D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s Adoption Search Program serves adult adoptees, birth parents, and birth siblings connected to an adoption facilitated through our agency. We can help adoptees who are 18 years of age and older.
Our process for releasing information from adoption records is based on rules established by the Michigan Adoption Law. *Our fee for processing requests is $60.*
- Adoptees whose birth parents rights were terminated on or after May 28, 1945 but before September 12, 1980, are entitled to non-identifying background information regarding their birth families. The identifying information of a birth parent can only be released if the birth parent has filed a statement of consent with the Central Adoption Registry authorizing the release of his/her identifying information.
D. A. Blodgett – St. John’s offers Confidential Intermediary Services for eligible individuals who desire contact with a birth relative. This service is most often requested by adult adoptees who were adopted before 1980. *Our fee for providing Confidential Intermediary Services is $300.*
- Adult adoptees whose birth parents rights were terminated before May 28, 1945 or on or after September 12, 1980, are entitled to non-identifying background information regarding their birth families. The identifying information of a birth parent can be released if the birth parent has not filed a statement of denial with the Central Adoption Registry.
